Welcome to Junior High English! I am looking forward to getting to know each of you this year as we explore the world of communication, language, literature, writing and reading through whole class, small group and individual work. We will investigate multiple text genres including short stories, poetry, non-fiction, non-print (film, music) and several literature studies. We will also practice writing in many forms such as literature responses, a variety of essays (narrative, expository, persuasive), formal communications, research projects, and creative stories. Along the way we will be developing skills for lifelong learning and communicating.
Welcome to Art I and II! This is a course that provides an introduction to art through a multi-media experience. Students will learn and apply the elements and principles of design to produce creative art projects that reflect their understanding of these concepts. The goal of this class is to provide the opportunity to learn and understand the elements and principles of design; provide the opportunity to have hands-on projects; provide the opportunity to try a variety of media, and to provide the opportunity to be free and creative.
I studied photography and journalism at Columbia College Chicago, where I received my undergraduate degree. After working as a photojournalist for several Chicago-area newspapers, I spent several years at home raising my three children and freelancing. When I relocated to Arizona in 2005, I decided to pursue a career in education and I received my Masters from University of Phoenix. I started out teaching 5th and 6th grade at Edu-Prize before teaching junior high English in the Gilbert district. I have been a proud Spartan for three years now! In my free time I enjoy competitive running (marathons) and triathlons, mountain biking and hiking, and in the winter I have the privilege of coaching the junior high cross country team.
